About me
My name is Joshua Ramos but I go by Elli V. I am an Afro-Latino artist born and raised in the Bronx, NY. After serving overseas in the United States Marine Corps, I returned to the Bronx. It was there that I began my career as a freelance artist. Meanwhile, I attended the New York Academy of Art located in Manhattan.
Growing up in the Bronx, I became fascinated with graffiti. In 2008, I created my first tag. By 2010, I painted my first mural; an aquatic scene on the bathroom walls of a family member's home. My work is a combination of different, complex emotions. The culmination displayed within my personal characterization, "DORKFACE." A simple design I created in 2009, the "DORKFACE" has green skin and dons a yellow helmet over his two horns. His mouth wide open to express what I could not as a young teen.
Since then, "DORKFACE" has taken many forms, such as pins and stickers. It has been placed in books, painted on canvases, included in murals, etc., in the far reaches of the world. In the past year, I have experimented with incorporating "DORKFACE" into fine art. The intent being to portray him in different scenes that I have or intend to experience in my lifetime.
Now, I intend to reinvent the industry and make the "DORKFACE" global. Join me as we take "DORKFACE" from a simple design I made as an immature sixteen year old to a brand recognized worldwide.
